Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the assessment take?
The assessment usually takes around 1.5-2 hours. Although children are recommended to complete the assessment in one sitting for maximum accuracy, they can pause it for short breaks between each unit (roughly 30 minutes each).
What if my child cannot sit still and concentrate to complete the assessment?
In our experience, most children are able to complete the assessment in one sitting. However, you can pause the evaluation to give him breaks between each unit. Additionally, starting the assessment only when he is calm and in a location with minimal environmental distractions is encouraged.
Are parents required or allowed to be present during the assessment?
At least one parent is required to administer the assessment, for example, starting the computer, logging into the site and pausing the test for breaks. The parent should not be coaching the child to maintain focus or answer questions as the assessment picks up all these data points to assess their learning profile.
How is this different from the ADHD/Dyslexia tests I have gotten my child to take?
Our assessment focuses on analysing how your child learns, which includes his cognitive strengths, learning preferences, and potential challenges. The report will highlight how you can uncover your child’s learning potential by tapping into his cognitive abilities. It goes beyond diagnosing specific conditions like ADHD or Dyslexia to provide a broader understanding of your child's learning needs. However, we do not offer clinical diagnoses for any neuro-diverse conditions.
Will my child’s learning profile change over time? Do I have to pay again to retake the test after that?
This largely depends on individual children. As you go through these strategies with your child, you may experience that he may outgrow some of these strategies. However, it usually takes quite a long time before their entire learning profile changes to the point of requiring another test. Instead, we recommend that parents focus on understanding the underlying principles behind the report, allowing them to understand their children better and eventually create their own strategies for their children.
Are there any after-school programmes that I can sign up for my child after getting the report?
A: Through this report, we aim to empower parents with the ability to understand children better and execute precise mediation for their children without requiring too much effort. We also have workshops to support parents in implementing the strategies in the report. However, if you still find this difficult, do not be pressured to apply everything in the report. You can start by focusing on 1 or 2 topics of immediate need, such as learning motivation.
How can I be sure that the report is accurate and reliable?
The Feuerstein Institute has developed this assessment over many decades of working with children worldwide, including in Asia. There is much robust practical and academic evidence for its accuracy. However, to ensure the highest accuracy of results, you should follow the suggestions provided on the website.

As parents, we often rely on our instincts. While we’re usually on the right track, we can sometimes miss important details.

Traditional methods involve a costly and time-consuming trial-and-error approach to identify your child's learning needs. This approach shows slow progress for your child, is expensive and can strain the relationship with your child.

OpenMind offers a new way.

It helps you understand how your child learns best and provides differentiated and targeted support. This approach ensures that your child sees progress and stays motivated to learn more.

With OpenMind, you can focus on what truly matters and build deeper connections with your child.

A Creative Wanderer he is! When I read the report, I laugh because I can see him in the report! When we talk to him, he listens for a bit and then just walks around and wanders! And while I think he doesn't listen, he gets all the answers right!
